About Mo
I am a proudly neurodivergent and queer therapist, born and raised in South Austin, where I’m now honored to be raising my own child. In my free time, you can find me absorbed in audiobooks, getting dressed up to share food and good company, exploring different parts of the community, traveling, and attending events in Austin’s vibrant art and queer scenes. My family and community have always been my anchors, and I bring this commitment to connection into my work with clients.
In 2013, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in applied sciences from Texas State University, working in various positions of case management within the carceral system. These experiences strengthened my resolve to advocate for justice and support for those facing systemic barriers. In 2022, I received my master's in social work at the University of Texas at San Antonio, which led me to specialize in supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders in a higher level of care setting. I joined the ACED team in 2023, where I continue to find profound joy and pride in helping clients heal and grow.
My Approach to Therapy
In therapy, I believe that a one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t work. As a relational therapist, I am committed to building genuine, authentic connections with each client, adapting my approach to best meet your unique needs. My therapeutic orientation is person-centered, strengths-based, and process-oriented, focusing on your individual journey and resilience.
In sessions, I integrate several evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Interpersonal Process Therapy (IPT), self-compassion work, and somatic experiencing. Beyond techniques, my work is deeply informed by social justice, ecological systems theory, feminist theory, anti-racism, queer theory, Health at Every Size (HAES), and bell hooks' love ethic.
Above all, I value creating a space where we can explore, heal, and even laugh together. Therapy is a collaborative journey, and I’m here to walk alongside you, bringing curiosity, warmth, and humor to each step of the way.
Values Statement
I believe that owning our privileges is essential in building trust and fostering an inclusive therapeutic space. As a therapist and human, I acknowledge that I benefit from various privileges: I am white-passing, straight-passing, cisgender presenting, and in a thin body. I am currently able-bodied and navigate the world without worry about fitting into public seating or being questioned in public spaces by authority figures. I grew up with access to food, healthcare, and higher education. As a first-generation college graduate and child of an immigrant, I hold a deep appreciation for the sacrifices that made these opportunities possible. I have the support of a loving family, friends, and a partner, and although I have personal experience with financial hardship, I am now able to live comfortably.
I am committed to continually challenging white supremacy from an anti-racist, anti-fat bias, anti-queer bias, feminist lens in both my work and personal life. I recognize that these privileges and commitments shape my path as a therapist, and I strive to leverage them to create a welcoming, empathetic space for those I serve.
